First, let's take a look at the Neopets Premium Web Pack. It includes the Neopets Portal, the Neopets Toolbar and a premium webmail service where you can have your email ending in @neomail.com. There are two plans for this Premium Web Pack :
- You can spend $3.99 USD a month and get 1,000 Neopoints a month, plus 1,000 Neopoints just for trying it out. This enables you usage of the Portal, Toolbar, and Webmail. or - You could also spend $39.95 USD and get the Premium Web Pack for a year. You get 2,500 Neopoints for trying it and 7,500 Neopoints if you keep it. What does this translate to? One of the strange things I noticed is that it seems as though Neopets wants consumers to go with the Special Annual Rate. Yet you end up with a smaller amount of Neopoints by choosing that plan (a total of 10,000 Neopoints) while someone paying by month would get 12,000 Neopoints. It should be pointed out, though, that by paying monthly you are paying roughly $8.00 more, so the Neopoints balance out. The second plan is a Premium Accelerated Dial-Up Service straight from Neopets. You get the Neopets Web Pack free if you use this - but this costs $15.95 USD a month. Why so expensive, you ask? Well, basically Neopets will become your Internet Service Provider (or ISP) if you choose to go this route. You will most likely cancel your existing ISP if you choose this option; that means no more America Online, CompuServe, whatever you use. Using the premium dial-up service gets you 2,500 Neopoints just for trying, and 1,000 Neopoints for every month you keep it. Keep in mind that this is in addition to the Neopoints you get for being a member of the Premium Pack that you get for free when you subscribe to Neopets Dial-up. A few notes about both plans: both have 15 Day Free Trial Offers, and both say you will get a special "Neomail" avatar if you sign up. Obviously this avatar has not been released (or announced) yet, as they surely could not be talking about the Neomail Addict avatar, which was released a while ago! In other words, this is Neopets way of making more money than the plushie, t-shirt and other sales provide. ![]() ![]() |
